THE NATIONAL CHILD PROTECTION TASK FORCE
2021 VIRTUAL CONFERENCE

Learn Advanced Techniques for all Cyber Investigations

JUNE 21-25

ONE WEEK. ONE MISSION.

NCPTF's anticipated annual training event is ready to teach life saving tools and techniques to the front line of protectors. These resources, lectures and discussions are open to law enforcement, prosecution officials, non-profits case assistants and corporate case assistants with the hope that attendees can create multi-jurisdictional, multidisciplinary alliances that extend beyond the conference to form an interconnected web across the country.

We have found, for example, that an effective attendee includes:

  • a prosecuting attorney/DA for operational and legal strategies

  • investigator/analyst focused on CDR/3rd Party/legal returns

  • investigator/analyst focused on Open Source Intelligence (OSINT)

  • a case witness

MAIN TRACK

Five days focused on building a foundation of OSINT skills that includes dark web and working with images. Along with learning location-based data investigations and finding out how criminals operate.

These sessions will include cryptocurrency, insights from case work, and a summary from Metcalf and Branzetti on developing the flow and how all the pieces fit together.

After training,  teams from all over the world will go head to head in a worldwide OSINT "Capture The Flag" challenge event.  A little friendly competition for bragging rights is encouraged!  In parallel with the CTF (Capture The Flag) are additional talks and an in-depth Dark Web Investigations training.

PROSECUTION TRACK

The Prosecution Track agenda will include a broad overview of the utilization of OSINT/social media in criminal investigations and prosecutions. A portion of the day will also be dedicated to educating victim witness/forensic examiners on questions to ask/things to look for in their line of work.

We'll also include specific discussion about investigations involving major digital platforms (e.g., Facebook, Google) and how to produce digital evidence in discovery and trial.

DID YOU ATTEND A PAST EVENT?

"Last year was an amazing opportunity to gather some of the greatest minds together to train and understand the importance of using modern technology for modern investigations. All of speakers showed their expertise in their field and how to find leads when things seem hopeless. I used the course material the same week with great success and continue to do so! I cannot wait for the next opportunity to train!"
