William B. Putman

William B. (“Bill”) Putman is a 1991 graduate (magna cum laude) of the University of Arkansas School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor of the Arkansas Law Review. He also received his B.A. (1980) and M.A. (1982) in Communication from the U of A. Mr. Putman’s legal career has included work in private practice, public service and corporate law.


Representative highlights include:

  • Law clerk to the Honorable H. Franklin Waters, Chief Judge, United States District Court, Western District of Arkansas (1991-92)

  • Chief Deputy Attorney General, State of Arkansas (2000-01)

  • Associate General Counsel, Walmart Stores, Inc. (2002-06)


For most of his career, Mr. Putman has been engaged in private practice. He currently owns and operates the Putman Law Office in Fayetteville, Arkansas. His practice is limited primarily to appeals in state and federal courts, professional disciplinary actions and other administrative litigation before government boards and agencies, consumer class actions and civil litigation. Mr. Putman has also taught courses in communication at the University of Arkansas, the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Purdue University, and NorthWest Arkansas Community College.
